Snuffalupagus, is that you?
me in 1978They say March comes in like a lion... well, it looks like my March is riding on in a possibly imaginary animal! I don't remember that freakish brown velour chair, but I do remember the red and blue "patchwork" flannel nightgown. Something about that cozy little number makes me happy. Clothing memories stick with me. I am guessing this pic was taken around Easter time because of the plastic egg in my hand.

I Think Mini-Me Was Hard on Books.
I can't tell the title of whatever I'm reading but the way I'm holding it looks like I am ready to just start ripping. Yikes. I can see some damage on the other page. Clearly THIS is why so many of my books are in such bad shape today. Forget well-loved. It was parental negligence in unleashing monster-me on perfectly nice books. I guess kids' books are for kids and handling them any which way I wanted was better than having no books at all, right? On a side note, I love the way my left sock is half off. I am thinking this was taken in 1975 at the farm.

Cozy Reading.
In this pic our family friend, Barb, is reading He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown! to me and to her son Erik. And yes, it's entirely possible I am picking my nose in this picture. It's hard to tell if I'm just being shy or going for the gold. Oh well.

Let's begin with ABC....

Me and my Uncle Rolland
I love this old picture of me, not because of the ridiculous pacifier in my mouth (held together by masking tape, mind you) but because it captures some of my early reading experiences. I remember the stories, I have many of the books, yet, somehow to have it on film seems nice. Also, I love the way my uncle looks in this photo--Michael Landon hair, head thrown back in laughter. That's really how I remember him from my youth. He lived with us for awhile when I was little. Also note, the fact that there are TWO ashtrays in this pictures. One was not enough! As much as I abhor smoking, I sort of liked that silver and black stand-up number in the background.

Dr. Seuss, 1963
